HID FARGO DTC (Direct-to-Card) printers require specific consumables to ensure optimal performance and print quality. These consumables include:  

DTC Ribbons:

  • Dye-Sublimation Ribbons: These ribbons are used for producing high-quality color images on the card. They consist of multiple color panels (typically YMCKO: Yellow, Magenta, Cyan, Black, Overlay) that transfer dye onto the card when heated.  
  • Resin Ribbons: Offer enhanced durability and scratch resistance compared to dye-sublimation ribbons. They are often used for cards that require a longer lifespan.

  • Overlaminates:
  • Thermal Transfer Overlaminates: Applied over the printed card to protect it from scratches, fading, and wear and tear. They can also enhance the card's appearance with holographic or other security features.  
Cleaning Supplies:
  • Isopropyl Alcohol: Used for cleaning the printhead and other printer components.  
  • Cleaning Cards: Abrasive cards to remove excess ink and debris from the printhead.
Cards:
  • PVC Cards: The most common type of card used in DTC printers. They come in various thicknesses and with options like magnetic stripes or embedded chips.
